The Corporate Donation Governorship

The Corporate Donation Governorship

Helping to build the next generation of scientists, engineers, business leaders, musicians and entrepreneurs from the best that is available - whatever their background or circumstances.

The Corporate Donation Governorship Scheme is a unique way in which your Company, Business or Trade Association can help an individual child with the greatest need change the direction of their life through the benefits of a Christ’s Hospital Education.

A child can be chosen for entry at age 11 and will have to pass an assessment or the child can be a talented 16 year old who is planning to study for A Levels and has shown talent and a particular interest in a career in your company’s field of expertise.

The benefits of being a Corporate Donation Governor and Presenting a child to Christ’s Hospital is that the child is guaranteed a place at the School provided they achieve the pass mark at the assessment and are able to cope with boarding. The cost of the child's education is then covered by the School's endowment and a contribution from the parent based upon income.

You can choose how involved you and your organisation wish to be with the Presentee. Many attend events, concerts and act as mentors and the child’s education benefits from having the involvement of an interested adult.

Why join the Corporate Donation Governorship Scheme?

  • As a Corporate Donation Governor your organisation will have the privilege of identifying a child who due to their social or financial needs would benefit from a boarding education.
  • You will be helping a child whose circumstances or poor schooling have made it difficult for them to demonstrate their full potential and who we recognise to be very able.
  • The child could be chosen from your local community or geographical business region.
  • You can choose to support a child who has indicated an interest or has shown a particular ability in the sector in which your company operates, especially if you decide to support a student through Sixth Form.
  • Your representative can mentor, support and help develop a particular child, not only through the years at Christ’s Hospital but also beyond into University and work.
  • You can give a particular child, in the greatest need, the opportunity to change the direction of their life.

How do you become a Corporate Donation Governor?

We have made the process as easy as possible.

  • Your Company, Business or Trade Association decides to make a contribution towards the cost of educating a child.
  • You or your Company/Association make a gift to Christ’s Hospital (minimum £16,000*) which is a donation towards the cost of educating the child.
  • You elect one individual to act as the Donation Governor for the Presentee. That person will need to go through a CRB check and be elected as a Donation Governor.
  • Our admissions department will then help you find a suitable child to Present based upon your requirements and give you all the information you need to make the right choice.

  • *If paid by a company the gift can be offset against Corporation Tax
*If paid by an individual the sum can be paid net of Gift Aid if reducing it to £12,480

Remember – you can make a real difference to a child’s future and give them a real chance to reach their full potential.
