How to help

Junior athleticsChrist's Hospital is unique in providing young people of families in social or financial need with the chance to discover their talents and potential through a free or heavily subsidised boarding education. By creating a stable and supportive environment not only can they achieve their full academic potential, but the rich diversity of activities and experiences at CH helps them to flourish socially and creatively.

Turning Lives Around

Many of our pupils have had a difficult start in life, often experiencing family breakdown, poor housing, family illness and unemployment. CH gives them an opportunity to turn their lives around. With over 72% of our alumni now falling into the top 4 UK categories of wealth¹, in social terms, the opportunity we provide is truly life changing.

The Importance of Fundraising

From the moment it was established in 1552 Christ's Hospital has always been dependent upon the kind support of all those inspired by its unique ethos; individuals, trusts, livery companies, community groups and other corporations.

Income from our Endowment only covers 70% of the costs of running the School. To help fill this funding gap and ensure that CH can continue to subsidise pupils' education, it must raise £1.25million in gifts and donations every year.

Michael Allen (MaA 49-57), Chair of Christ's Hospital's Fundraising Working Party, puts this need in context: "Every £1 raised in donations can do the work of £20 of Endowment".
