The GCSE Course (Years 9, 10, 11)
The Curriculum is designed to encourage pupils to study subjects in each of the major areas of the National Curriculum. In addition, the Christ's Hospital curriculum offers further opportunities particularly in Languages, the Creative Arts and the Humanities. The Core Curriculum: all pupils study English Language and English Literature, Mathematics, and Science (taught separately as Physics, Chemistry, Biology). Additional compulsory non-examined elements of the weekly curriculum are Chapel, Religion & World View, and a carousel of IT and PSHE.
The curriculum is completed by the addition of four optional subjects which must include at least one Humanity and one Modern Foreign Language.
Optional subjects: Humanities: History, Geography, Theology & Philosophy. Modern Foreign Languages: French, German, Spanish. Additional subjects: Latin, Greek, Music, Art, Drama, ICT, Product Design, Graphic Design, PE, Food Technology.
