Health Centre

Matron's roomThe Health Centre is an integral part of the Christ's Hospital community, providing both medical and emotional care to all the pupils.

Situated on the east side of the Christ's Hospital campus, it is staffed 24 hours a day by by three full-time qualified nurses and we have two part-time drivers to take pupils to medical appointments outside the school.

The Health Centre is well supported by a local Doctor's Practice and a GP visits each morning to hold a surgery for the pupils. At other times the pupils are taken to the surgery in Horsham or to the out of hours doctor.

A local dentist visits the Health Centre twice weekly, a physiotherapist weekly and a team of counsellors twice a week.

The Health Centre nurses offer a variety of special clinics including teenage issues, asthma, diabetes, growth and dietary needs and a vaccination programme including routine and travel health. They also hold general surgeries twice daily.

There are 15 beds for those who are not well enough to attend school or stay in their own boarding houses. There is a boys' ward with five beds and four private cubicles, a girls' ward with three beds and two private cubicles and an isolation room.

We work in close conjunction with the Matrons, who are on call 24 hours a day in the Boarding Houses. They are often the first port-of-call for pupils not feeling well and look after their everyday health requirements.

If you require any further information or have any queries please do not hesitate to email the Health Centre Manager.
