The 1st XI Football team returned three days before the start of term to have valuable time establishing team spirit ahead of a busy term of demanding fixtures.

The first day was spent bonding and working on set plays ahead of the first training match versus Cranleigh on Saturday. They were a physically strong outfit and were tenacious in the application, giving Christ’s Hospital very little time or space to play on our first outing. There were many positives taken from the hard fought 2-1 victory though, principally the formation of some key partnerships and Kit (GE/Year 11) making his debut, scoring both goals from his free kicks.

On Sunday, we played host to the Old Blues who brought a young team to contest the Bob Hailey trophy. This was a very different style of match and CH were permitted to pass the ball more freely and build effective patterns of play. Playing the blustery wind better in the second half, the 1st XI ran out 4-1 victors, with goals from the captain George (GR/Year 13), Sam (GR) and another debutant, Travis (DG/Year 12).

This has been a very positive three days for the team, establishing a good team spirit as well as belief in their potential.
