Laboratory Technician (Biology)

We require a well-qualified and enthusiastic Technician to work primarily in the Biology Department, but who is also willing and able to provide Technician cover across the whole of the Science Department.

You will need to hold a qualification in a scientific discipline at A level (or equivalent) plus a further science qualification, or have relevant experience of working in a scientific laboratory.

One of the main responsibilities is to make sure that all of the equipment is provided and laid out at the beginning of lessons and cleared away at the end.  The role also includes the maintenance of records, chemicals and equipment; helping to keep the laboratories maintained in a safe and tidy fashion and ensuring that standard safety procedures are followed.

Hours of work are 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday in term time, plus occasional hours in the school holidays on a rota basis by arrangement and a total of five days during the school holidays at the beginning and end of each term (15 per year).
