Required from September 2018 or January 2019
The Music School is home to eight full-time staff and around 30 enthusiastic and committed Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs), between them teaching over 550 instrumental lessons per week. The vast majority of instrumental lessons are subsidised in accordance with pupil need, and the department provides instruments as necessary. Pupils are customarily dedicated, high-achieving, and polite, and they relish the broad range of opportunities that are available to them at Christ’s Hospital.
The position would suit a well-qualified and capable Jazz specialist (whose first study instrument can be anything related) who has an enthusiasm for teaching within the framework of a large co-educational boarding school.
As well as giving individual tuition there are many opportunities to perform within the school, including lunchtime and evening concerts throughout the year.
The role is part time, one or two days per week, with some flexibility available as to the day of work.
Applications should be received by 9am on Monday 23rd April and interviews will take place week commencing 30th April.
Christ’s Hospital is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful applicants are required to complete an enhanced disclosure application with the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service). More details on the disclosure process can be found on www.gov.uk/disclosure-barring-service-check.
