From world-famous galleries to iconic city landmarks, sixth form art students immersed themselves in the sights, sounds and creative energy of New York during our biennial art trip in the first week of the Christmas holidays 2025.

Students visited major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, Guggenheim Museum, Whitney Museum, New Museum and Dia Foundation, alongside independent galleries in Chelsea and SoHo. Architecture, product and graphic design featured prominently, providing inspiration for those considering future study or careers in creative fields.

The itinerary also included sightseeing and cultural experiences such as the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History, the 9/11 Memorial Museum and Times Square, as well as social activities including ice skating, a cinema visit and attending a basketball match.

Reflecting on the trip, one student commented, ‘Seeing so many iconic works in person completely changed how I think about art. The scale, space and atmosphere of the galleries made it far more powerful than studying images in a classroom.’

The New York visit proved to be an inspiring and enriching experience, with students returning with renewed enthusiasm, broader perspectives and ideas that will continue to inform their work.
