Careers in medicine talk

On 17 October, we were joined by Bonnie Tse and her ambassador dog Arthur, to talk to our senior students about a career in medicine. Bonnie is a retired GP who now works with Canine Partners, a registered charity that transforms the lives of people with physical disabilities by partnering them with assistance dogs and other highly trained dogs.

Bonnie treated us to a fantastic demonstration of how dogs like Arthur support their partnered adult with day-to-day activities to help facilitate their independence with daily living. Arthur showed how he can open and close doors, take objects from fridges, shelves and drawers, retrieve all sorts of items for them and more.

Bonnie talked to the students about her current therapy work that trains assistance dogs, and about her extensive experience as a GP. She advised the students on what it takes to be a doctor, what a typical day as a GP is like and about training for a career in medicine.

Thank you to Bonnie, Arthur and all at Canine Partners for this informative and inspiring visit!
