On 27 January, senior students at Christ’s Hospital heard from Old Blue and NHS surgeon Tim Campbell-Smith during an engaging careers talk on medicine and healthcare.
Senior students gained insight into Tim’s wide-ranging medical career before putting their questions to him in a lively Q&A session. The event was very well attended and offered a valuable glimpse into the challenges and rewards of a career in medicine.
The conversation continued over dinner, where students had the opportunity to ask further questions in a more informal setting. This proved particularly valuable for those who have secured places on medical degree courses, or are currently applying, as they sought practical advice and guidance from an experienced clinician.
Tim Campbell-Smith is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill and Head of the Department of Surgery, having worked there for 15 years. An Old Blue, he attended Christ’s Hospital from 1980–87 before training at St Thomas’ Medical School and qualifying as a doctor in 1994. Tim is also Chair of the Christ’s Hospital Medical Foundation.
