CH Community Show 2019
On Friday 4 October, members of the Christ’s Hospital community came together to perform in ‘Name That Tune,’ including a range of songs and scenes in Big School, the large centre-piece building at the centre of Christ’s Hospital. The evening saw members of every year group acting and singing alongside members of academic staff, support staff, Old Blues, past teachers and parents of pupils at the school. The audience was made up of an excitable 600 CH pupils, eager to see staff perform in a way that had never been seen before, whilst many also attempted to win a JBL Bluetooth speaker by guessing the tunes performed on the evening.
What an evening of wonderfully varied performances on offer; from The Head of Spanish and Head of Second Form belting out Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s Shallow, to our new School Chaplain providing a rousing rendition of the Queen classic I want to break free. Staff donned Housey uniform to perform the classic Summer Nights from Grease and we had a virtuoso performance of singing and violin from one of our history teachers. The evening also saw a student team of technicians supporting our new theatre technician Paul, as they were able to transform Big School into a working theatrical space.
The evening ended with a beautiful collaboration between the Head Teacher, Mr Reid, and our school gospel choir who performed a wonderful version of the South African National Anthem, Nkosi sikeleli Afrika. As the evening drew to a close, we were treated to a student-led lip-synch video of Bohemian Rhapsody, which involved teachers, pupils and staff from across the CH community. A fitting way to end a fun evening where students and staff presented a fine example of working together for a common cause.
