On 6 November, Christ’s Hospital was proud to hold its Performing Arts Day, specifically designed for year 5 primary school children. The event aimed to provide young students with an immersive and interactive introduction to the world of performing arts and was attended by over 60 children from 15 schools.
The day featured three exciting workshops, musical theatre, technical theatre and puppetry, giving participants the opportunity to explore different aspects of the performing arts, learn new skills, and unleash their creativity under the guidance of the school’s experienced music and drama professionals.
The event culminated in a final performance in Christ’s Hospital’s professional theatre, where the young attendees showcased their talents and newfound abilities to visiting parents who had been invited to attend. This unique opportunity allowed the students to experience the thrill of performing on a professional stage and gain valuable confidence and stage presence.
‘We were thrilled to host the Performing Arts Day for year 5 students,’ said Daniel McQue, Head of Academic Drama at Christ’s Hospital. ‘We believe that providing these hands-on experiences is a fantastic way of introducing young children to the world of theatre and igniting a passion for the performing arts. We look forward to making this a regular event and inspiring future generations of performers.’
Christ’s Hospital recently won gold in the performing arts category of the Independent School of the Year awards 2024, as well as the overall award for Independent School of the Year 2024.
