Christ’s Hospital Welcomes Visiting Academics from Japan
Christ’s Hospital was pleased to welcome two visiting academics from Japan on Monday 2 September.
Professor Naoki Kuramoto of Tohoku University and Assistant Professor Takeshi Omata of Toyo University visited the school to conduct research interviews exploring students’ access to higher education during and after the COVID-19 era. The interview was arranged at the request of a Christ’s Hospital Old Blue (former student) from Japan, reflecting the school’s enduring international connections.
Christ’s Hospital also maintains strong links with the Tazaki Foundation in Japan, welcoming Tazaki Foundation students on scholarships to the school every year.
During their visit, Professor Kuramoto and Professor Omata met with Will Richards, Head of Sixth Form, who shared insights into the school’s approach to higher education and career guidance.
The visit formed part of a wider study into how schools and young people around the world navigated the challenges of the pandemic and the transition into higher education.
Christ’s Hospital was delighted to contribute to this important international research and to share the experiences of our pupils.
