Before half term, we were joined by Old Blue and Senior Mechanical Engineer, Robert Firmin, for a talk about careers in engineering.
The event was aimed at senior students who may have gained a place on an undergraduate engineering degree course already, or are interested in pursuing a career in engineering.
Robert delivered a short talk on what his role and industry is like, followed by a Q&A session. The event was very well attended and even overran by half an hour as the students had so many questions at the end.
Robert is currently Senior Mechanical Engineer at AtkinsRéalis, where he works on a number of building service design projects across a range of sectors. After leaving Christ’s Hospital in 2003, Robert went on to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bristol. His career as a mechanical engineer began at Arup, before moving to roles at Buro Happold, Daikin and Silcock Dawson and Partners.
