Founder’s Day Dinner 2019

Monday 29 July 2019

Chief Steward – David Farrington

Ironmonger’s Hall
Shaftsbury Place, Barbican
EC2Y 8AA
Friday 11th October 2019
6.30pm for 7.15pm

The Stewards are delighted to announce this year’s Chairman will be Greg Andrews, our most recent Clerk. With considerable experience in the City, the Charity Sector and Christ’s Hospital he is particularly well qualified to speak at Founder’s Day Dinner.

Responding will be Nana Sarfo-Bonsu (2011-18, LHA, GrE) who is currently reading Classics and English at St Hugh’s, Oxford. Nana, probably, will become the youngest speaker at Founder’s Day Dinner but comes with a considerable reputation having recently been Deputy Secretary General of the Model United Nations.

With Nana speaking, the Stewards are keen to encourage more, younger Old Blues to attend (2018 saw a gratifying increase) and have amended ticket prices for this year.

Standard tickets are available at £110 (to include pre dinner drinks, table wines and port with coffee. A rate of £75 is available to those under 30 (at 01.09.19) and a special rate of £50 is available for those under 25 (at 01.09.19) Dress is Black tie. Guests are welcome.

The Stewards have made considerable efforts to control pricing but pressures exist. In an attempt to counter these, the Stewards invite those who cannot attend this year (and, indeed, those who can) to contribute towards the costs of inviting Grecians and our other special guests. Any such contribution should be noted on the application form and will be gratefully received.

Dinner should end before 10.30pm but the bar will remain open until approximately 11.30pm.

Completed application forms can either be printed and posted to the Assistant Honorary Secretary, Lucy Herron, at 13 Highcroft, 170 Highgate Road, London, NW5 1EJ, or returned via the internet to chfoundersdaydinner@gmail.com

Payment can be made by cheque (payable to CHFDD) and enclosed with postal applications or directly into NatWest account 63285053, sort code 60 11 17. Direct payments will be managed by Lucy Herron, Asst. Hon. Sec. who manages the pre-dinner processing and can be contacted via chfoundersdaydinner@gmail.com

Please ensure any direct payments are referenced sufficiently to identify you.

In addition and to finally comply with legislation (GDPR 2018) also included here is our Privacy Statement. It is hoped everyone will accept the Statement and consent to the Stewards making direct communication, where necessary, in the future. To consent you are requested to sign in the appropriate box at the bottom of the application form and provide your email address.

As in previous years CHOBA will list, on their website, those attending as applications arrive. The presence of your name on this list should be taken as confirmation. Those who apply via cheque and are without computer access will, on request, receive a written confirmation.

David Farrington, Chief Steward looks forward to greeting you at the dinner.
