Ian Sloan Shaw (Barnes A, Coleridge B 1969-76 Dep. Senior Grecian) of Woonona, Australia passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family, on Saturday 18th of June 2022 aged 64. Son of Elizabeth. Beloved husband of Sarah. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Tom and Kate, Ed and Paola, Charlie, and Lily. Loved brother of Nicola Richardson.

Ian was born on 12th January 1958 and grew up in Penn Buckinghamshire where at the age of 6 his father William died, leading to Ian gaining a place at Christ’s Hospital as the presentee of Professor Jack Morpurgo BA LITT.D. He became Deputy Senior Grecian, Captain of rugby and fives in his last year at school (1976). He was a highly rated rugby player and Gerald T G Davies CBE (master and legendary Welsh & Lions winger) stated in The Blue he was the best schoolboy he ever played against. He was  a loyal friend to many, charismatic, easy going with a mischievous sense of humour. He played his rugby with Amersham and Chiltern briefly before continuing to play for the Old Blues into his forties.

After school he spent a gap year in Australia where he eventually emigrated in 2003 following a number of successful roles including in the wine trade, BMW Park Lane and commercial interiors business. He married his first wife Yianoulla in 1985 with whom he had two children, Tom and Eddie born in 1993 and 1995 respectively.  In Australia he successfully developed a business in commercial branding and signage. Ian met his second wife Sarah whom he married in 2016. They had two children Charlie (2018) and Lily (2019). Diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago Ian battled courageously always with good humour and great stoicism.

A dedicated father, husband and dear friend to many Ian will be sadly missed by all.
