Careers in the curriculum

Working alongside subject teachers and heads of department, the careers team organise a number of Focus weeks throughout the academic year.  Focus weeks consist of a week of events based on an academic discipline that the pupils are already familiar with.  Pupils can then identify the wide range of careers associated with that discipline. For example, our History Week, featured Jeremy Quinn MP (a former History student at Oxford University) in addition to returning Old Blues (former pupils) who have recently graduated with a History degree.  Focus Weeks also enable students to identify and challenge their own preconceptions of where a subject will eventually lead them. Many students are surprised to find that an English degree can lead to a career in the financial sector for some Old Blues!
