Mathematics

The Royal Mathematical School offers a wide range of courses to ensure that all students are equipped for the modern world. We aim to provide the navigators of the future, just as our original charter was to provide navigators for the 17th century.

During Key Stage 3 we ensure that the students have secure foundations with strong numeracy skills that develop into higher level algebraic understanding. We use the latest modern teaching techniques as well as a mixture of traditional approaches to help all students progress. We have weekly challenges, competitions and the opportunity for students enter many national competitions.

When Key Stage 4 begins at the start of Year 9 we introduce GCSE Statistics to the students alongside their IGCSE Mathematics course. Stronger students are encouraged to take either Additional Mathematics (Level 3 Free Standing Mathematics Qualification) and/or the AQA Further Mathematics Level 2 Certificate. We continue to give weekly challenges to the students and enter many for the UKMT Intermediate and Senior Maths Challenges.

In Key Stage 5 we offer both GCE Mathematics and Further Mathematics as well as the International Baccalaureate at Standard and Higher Level.

We have a highly qualified team of mathematicians who use the latest modern technology to inspire our students to become the best they can be.
