On 5 September we welcomed back Louise Winter, funeral director and author. Louise is the founder of Life, Death Whatever, a festival and community allowing people to speak openly about death and bereavement. Her words had a profound impact on students and staff, suggesting ways to support our own families and friends in times of grief and to meet the inevitable with our eyes and hearts open. She demonstrated that powerful educational moments are not just intellectually challenging, but emotionally challenging too.
Louise said: ‘It was such an honour to be invited back to Christ’s Hospital to speak to the students about life, death, funerals and grief.
‘Christ’s Hospital is an incredibly inspiring and inclusive environment with a progressive approach to challenging topics like death. I’m still more than slightly envious of those who are lucky enough to be educated there!
‘The students were engaged and curious, and asked such interesting questions.’
