Christ’s Hospital is proud to announce that three of our talented students, Rose (Year 9), Amelie (Year 11), and Omowumi (Year 13), have been offered coveted places with the 2024 company of the National Youth Music Theatre.

Rose, Amelie, and Omowumi have shown exceptional dedication and talent in the performing arts, and their hard work has been recognised with this incredible opportunity to join the National Youth Music Theatre, known for nurturing young performers and providing them with a platform to showcase their skills on a national level; in fact, Andrew Lloyd Webber calls it ‘the best youth musical theatre in the world’.

Director of Music, James Bartlett, expressed his delight at the students’ achievement, stating, ‘We are immensely proud of Rose, Amelie, and Omowumi for securing a place with the National Youth Music Theatre, after several rounds of auditions over the half-term break. Their passion, commitment, and talent have been evident throughout their time at Christ’s Hospital, and we are thrilled to see them embark on this exciting journey.’

The National Youth Music Theatre offers a unique and enriching experience for young performers, providing them with the opportunity to develop their skills, collaborate with industry professionals, and create inspiring and innovative theatre productions. The CH students will get to participate in a range of exciting courses, workshops of new writing, and productions.

Christ’s Hospital benefits from a fully equipped, modern theatre, which was purpose-built in 1974 as a space for teaching drama and presenting school productions, as well as external productions. Former CH students (Old Blues) who have gone on to become big names in the performing arts industry include Susanna Fielding, Holly Walsh, James D’Arcy, Jason Flemming, Roger Allam and Howard Davies.

Hoping to follow in their footsteps, Rose, Amelie, and Omowumi’s success in securing a place with the 2024 National Youth Music Theatre is a sign of great things to come and Christ’s Hospital is honoured to be playing a part in nurturing their talents.
