Donations to the CH Museum

Share

If you are thinking of making a Donation to Christ’s Hospital’s Museum.

Christ’s Hospital Museum is deeply grateful for the generosity and passion that so many Old Blues and the wider CH community have shown through donations of artefacts and personal collections over the years. Your contributions and knowledge have helped shape the Museum with its collection, archive and displays in helping us to tell the stories that matter.

Since it’s refurbishment in 2023, the Museum has been developing and focusing on collection care and management standards. As part of a five-year strategic review, we are changing the way we accept donations. Whilst we will continue to welcome donations, we will no longer be accepting unsolicited gifts, objects or materials, so please contact us in the first instance to determine whether your item aligns with our current collecting policy.

When adhering to Museum standards, there is a large amount of administrative work involved for processing new acquisitions. This change in procedure was not made lightly and reflects our commitment for responsibly caring for and managing this significant collection of over 100,000 objects already entrusted to us.

We understand this may be disappointing to some, especially those who hoped to find a home for cherished items. Please know this change in accepting donations allows us to uphold and ensure the highest standards of preservation, research and storytelling for the current collection and archives for future generations to enjoy.

If you have any questions or would like to know more about the Museum’s collecting policy, please contact us: – CHMuseum@christs-hospital.org.uk or 01403 247444.

CH Museum is free of charge to visit and is open, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10am to 4pm by appointment only.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding
