This year’s Old Blues Day will be held on 17 May and will be themed around the national VE80 celebrations – commemorating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, which marked the end of the war in Europe on 8th May 1945.
Features for the day will include guided tours led by our museum curator on ‘CH in wartime’, ‘B’ side Boarding House visits, an Old Blues netball match, a commemorative Chapel Service, band parade plus lots more.
The night of the 16th / 17th of May also marks the anniversary of 617 Squadrons Dam Busters launch. This 1943 attack on German dams, used a purpose-built “bouncing bomb” developed by Old Blue, Barnes Wallis. A member of the Barnes Wallis Foundation will be joining our crew on the day to talk about this feat of engineering.
