Old Blues Summer Heritage Day 2026

Sat 8 August – 10.30 to 17.00

Join us on this free open day for Old Blues and friends of Christ’s Hospital. Enjoy a leisurely day where you will have open access to our fabulous grounds. There will also be the opportunity to learn more about the history and heritage of the school from 1552 to present day!

Features of the day will include:

Chapel, Dining Hall, Big School and the Museum will be open to visit * Bring a picnic to have on Big Side * Lawn Games * Bring bikes and scooters for a summer’s ride around the Mile * Tea and coffee available to purchase from Dining Hall * Bookable site walking tour with one of our Museum curators * Pre-bookable sandwich lunch to eat in Court Room or take away to have on Big Side *

Step into Christ’s Hospital’s Past!

We welcome you to browse CH Museum’s extensively refurbished displays, filled with hundreds of nostalgia-inducing artefacts. Explore themes such as Music, Sport, Wartime and Boarding House traditions at London, Hertford and Horsham while discovering something of your own personal CH history in the context of our 500-year timeline. Additional memorabilia from your own era will be available to see, such as photographs and old school magazines. The Museum will be open throughout the day for you to visit, with our team of knowledgeable curators and volunteers on hand to answer all your questions about Christ’s Hospital and its history.

Guided Site Walking Tour with Refreshments

Time:11.30am Cost: £4 per person

If you would like to learn more about the history of Christ’s Hospital, our buildings, paintings and sculptures you can join one of our Museum Curators on an informal guided site walking tour. Places for the walking tour are limited and must be booked in advance. It will last approximately one hour leaving from Court Room, covering a distance of around one mile and finishing with tea, coffee and cake. Book for the walking tour during the registration process.

Sandwich Picnic Lunch

Time: 12.30 to 14.00 Cost £12.50 per person

Enjoy a picnic lunch to have in Court room or take away to eat on Big Side. Choose from fancy wraps and sandwiches, sausage rolls, and other picnic favourites, a selection of delicious cakes, and soft drinks. You must pre-book in advance for the sandwich picnic lunch. We will be unable to cater for extra numbers on the day. Book during the registration process.
