The Nigel Fleming (PrepA, ColA 63-73) “Single Pea” Sculpture

Share

We were delighted to welcome Nigel Fleming (PrepA, ColA 63-73) back to Christ’s Hospital to install a beautiful sculpture that he has very kindly donated to the school.

Nigel Fleming Sculpture Single Pea Christ's Hospital

This beautiful piece, called “Single Pea” is made from Spanish Alabaster. Nigel lovingly hand crafted the piece using many different sand paper grades and has used different textures to create its beautiful contrasted effects. The sculpture was created as a tribute to Gregor Mandel, who uncovered the basic principles of inheritance through his experiments with pea plants and who Nigel studied at CH.

Nigel, who now undertakes a career as a sculptor in Spain, was not always in this line of work, prior to that he had a career as a clinical biochemist and entrepreneur, where he founded Athena Diagnostics and G2B Pharma, as well as other successful companies.
