Tony Barnard (BaB 48-55)

Following the latest edition of The Old Blue Magazine, we received a lovely email from Tony Barnard (BaB 48-55) with an update on his life and some fantastic photos from his time at Christ’s Hospital.
I
‘I very much enjoyed reading the latest edition of The Old Blue. Thank you for it. You ask for news of Old Blues and so I thought that I would respond, perhaps with the hope that one or two may remember me and even get in touch. When you get to my age you often wonder what happened to everyone!
I
After National Service, I spent four years at St John’s College Cambridge studying Natural Science and Theology and was ordained in the Church of England in 1963. I was never a ‘Vicar’ but spent twelve years teaching and training at Theological College, specialising in the study of the Old Testament, and establishing a life-long interest in theological education, especially for the Laity. In 1977, I was asked to go to Lichfield Cathedral, from where I worked in Ministry Training in the Lichfield Diocese and pursued ‘Education and Outreach’ in the Cathedral. During that period Anne and I were lucky to share experience of the Church’s work overseas, especially in the States and in Malaysia. I retired in 2006, live in the Midlands and relish my three children and ten Grandchildren. I am so grateful for the start that Christ’s Hospital gave me, and will continue my support for the significant work you do.’
