Politics Talk

On 14 February, local MP John Milne came to Christ’s Hospital to give a fascinating talk on politics.

Mr Milne spoke passionately about ‘How to be a good MP in 2025’ drawing on a range of topics and issues, from parliamentary procedure and the UK constitution to electoral systems and governance. Mr Milne’s dedication as a constituency MP, Horsham’s man in Westminster, was particularly tangible as he described his work in housing and pensions. CH students took the opportunity to pose a variety of pertinent questions about the role of the ‘third party’ in UK politics, the international crises in Ukraine and Gaza, as well as national matters such as poverty and social mobility.

Mr Milne was full of praise for our students and how well behaved and engaged they were, and professed to have ‘really enjoyed his evening’.

It was an extremely interesting and well received talk; we look forward to welcoming Mr Milne back in the future.
