Quad Fountain Cleaned
The fountain in the quad is positively sparkling after it was cleaned by a specialist team during the Easter holiday! The photos show the fountain being cleaned, as well as the finished effect.
Here are some interesting facts about the fountain:
Work began on the fountain in the summer holiday of 1904.
The statue of Edward VI, founder of Christ’s Hospital, features in the centre; this was originally made in 1832 for the façade of the Grammar School building at the London site. The statues of Old Blues (former pupils) Lamb, Coleridge, Middleton and Maine were made specially for the fountain and stand around Edward VI.
The fountain was last cleaned 60 years ago!
