On a beautiful sunny afternoon, 650 CH pupils and some courageous staff took part in the School’s annual steeplechase. The approximate distances were 3260 meters for juniors, almost 4000 meters for the senior A and just over 6000 meters for the senior B race with the routes going through the grounds of the School and through adjacent fields.
Parents, relatives and staff (who elected not to run), cheered the pupils and staff on as they reached the finishing post in the Quad by the water tower, rather than a traditional steeple. There were some excellent individual performances (results below). Boarding houses Leigh Hunt (girls) and Peele (boys) carried off the overall prize.
The winners of the junior race were Amy Johnson (Thornton A) and Otto Jakubowski (Peele B).
The best Year 7 (second form) runners went to Ella Murton (Coleridge A) and Luke Pullen (Lamb B).
The winners of the intermediate race were Lucy Liu (Barnes A) and Tom Johnson (Peele A).
The winning boarding houses of the intermediate section were Barnes (girls) and Peele (boys).
The senior A race was won by Lucy Ramshaw (Coleridge B) and Julius Sessler (Peele B).
The senior B race was won by Rosie Vallance (Coleridge B) and Remus Goldsmith (Grecians E) with the overall winning houses in this section being Leigh Hunt and Peele.
Many congratulations to all the pupils and staff who took part.
