On 18 January, Christ’s Hospital hosted the Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC) ‘Top of the Bench’ competition. This is a national competition with regional heats held all around the country. It is the first time CH has hosted the competition.
The competitors from schools across the county worked as teams of four to complete a practical challenge and a written paper. The CH team worked brilliantly with flair and enthusiasm.
Schools Engagement Executive Rio Hutchings, at the Royal Society of Chemistry, said: “We believe that everyone should have access to a high quality chemistry education that is engaging, inspiring and relevant. Our schools engagement activities include competitions such as Top of the Bench, and – with the help of our members – we have been organising and running this for more than 20 years.”
