Over the first weekend of October half term (18–20 October), senior French students enjoyed an exciting three-day visit to Paris, immersing themselves in French culture, language and landmarks.

The group set off on Friday morning, travelling by coach and ferry via Calais before arriving in the French capital later that afternoon. Spirits were high as students caught their first glimpses of Paris and prepared for a packed weekend of exploration.

Saturday saw the group taking in some of the city’s most famous sights, beginning with panoramic views from the Montparnasse Tower’s viewing deck. From there, they admired the iconic Eiffel Tower up close and later enjoyed a scenic river cruise along the Seine. The afternoon was spent wandering through the artistic streets of Montmartre and visiting the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica, before ending the day with a delicious meal at a restaurant.

On Sunday, students visited a chocolate factory to learn about the art of chocolate-making (and, of course, to sample a few treats) before going on to explore the historic old town of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The group then made their way home via Calais, tired but happy after a memorable and enriching trip.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to practise their French in real-world settings while discovering the history, culture and charm of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.
