Sheila Whitfeld (née James) 1s, 8s 40-48

My sister Sheila Whitfeld (née James) died on 21st May 2020 just before her 89th birthday in her care home in Narbeth Wales.

She joined me, Virginia Youdale (née James) at Hertford in september 1940.  We started in Ward 1 and then transferred to Ward 8.  We spent the war years at Hertford.   Sheila won the needlework prize every year and went on to do occupational therapy before marrying an Old Blue, Nigel Whitfeld.

We were presented by the Institute of Journalists of which our father was a member, and who accepted us as my father knew that his death from TB was imminent.  Sheila was very artistic and did much painting and creative handwork. But latterly she was dogged by ill-health.
