On 5 March, Christ’s Hospital took part in the annual Spital Sermon at St Lawrence Jewry in the City of London.

Senior Grecian Hetty and Second Monitor Kamsy delivered the readings, keeping a centuries-old tradition alive.

The historic service dates back to medieval times and was once used to encourage donations to the Royal Hospitals founded by King Edward VI – including Christ’s Hospital. It was at a Spital Sermon in 1553 that the pupils of the school were first seen in public dressed in their bluecoat uniform!
