Last summer term, Third Form (Year 8) art students created a ceramic tiled mural, with students designing, engraving and glazing a tile each. Taking inspiration from the Royal Mathematical School’s 350th anniversary, as well as a 1648 map of the world by the Dutch cartographer, William Blau, students researched different kinds of maps and added their own design ideas too. The result is their own unique depiction of the world, 1.5 by 2 metres, which is now on display in the cloisters!
Many thanks must go to Mr Whiteley for masterminding this project.
