Assistant Laboratory Technician (Chemistry)
Permanent part time position to start September 2020
We require an enthusiastic Assistant Technician to work primarily in the Chemistry Department, but who is also willing and able to provide support across the whole of the Science Department.
A good general level of education, with a science qualification at A level (or equivalent) or previous experience of working in a scientific laboratory. CLEAPSS technician training (H&S/Handling Chemicals) will be provided
One of the main responsibilities is to make sure that all of the equipment is provided and laid out at the beginning of lessons and cleared away at the end. The role also includes the maintenance of records, chemicals and equipment; helping to keep the laboratories maintained in a safe and tidy fashion and ensuring that standard safety procedures are followed.
Hours of work are 9.00am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday in term time, plus occasional hours in the school holidays on a rota basis by arrangement and a total of five days during the school holidays at the beginning and end of each term (15 per year).
