Gross Annual salary £17,290pa (£9.50 per hour )
Applications are invited to join our busy Housekeeping team on a permanent basis and to start as soon as possible subject to pre-employment checks.
We have some permanent vacancies in our Boarding House team working ideally from 08:15am to 16:00pm, although we have a little flexibility (e.g. schools hours) for some applicants. Post holders are required to work outside of these hours on occasion including working in the Public Areas team from time to time. Full time working is typically 35-40 hours per week. The working pattern for cleaning teams is 5 out of 7 days which includes regular weekend working.
In addition to the hours stated above, applicants must be able to reliably commute to Christ’s Hospital and prepared to work up to 8 weekends per year.
Full time working is preferred, though we are able to consider some applications for part-time and flexible working subject to scheduling. Please indicate clearly in your application what hours you can work.
Previous experience of cleaning in a residential school, commercial or school environment is helpful, although not essential. This is a very physical role. It requires working while standing, covering large distances and flights of stairs on foot. Reasonable physical effort in bending, twisting, and in pulling and pushing cleaning equipment.
All posts are subject to a probationary period of six months.
Benefits include 6.2 weeks holiday (inc. Bank Holidays) per annum (some to be taken at Christmas closedown), a stakeholder pension scheme for eligible staff, free on-site parking, free lunch when pupils on site and uniform. Although there is a local train station own transport would be beneficial.
Please note among other pre-employment checks, successful candidates will require an enhanced DBS check. This is a check for cautions, warnings, reprimands and convictions (including spent convictions) and a search of the DBS Children’s Barred List which ensures that a candidate is not barred from working with vulnerable groups.
