Day Matron
We are recruiting for a part time, term time, Day Matron to join us from August 2022 to help look after approximately 70 girls and boys aged 17-18 years old, within the sixth form boarding house. Sixth formers (called Grecians) are encouraged to become more independent and responsible as part of the transition from student life to life outside of school. Duties include pastoral care responsibilities; administrative tasks, the control and issue of proprietary medications and pupils’ epipens etc., the organisation of pupils’ laundry and household linen as well as repairing uniforms.
Sensitivity to the needs of young people, good organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to work with others are essential to carry out this important role. The post operates mainly in term time (33 weeks per year) although you will also be required to work up to 3 additional days before the start and after the end of each term.
For the time that COVID-19 is prevalent, the post holder will be required to carry out their duties in line with the school’s various policies and procedures in place to manage COVID. This will include being an initial point of contact for a pupil who may present with COVID symptoms and ensuring the welfare of pupils in isolation within a boarding house awaiting a test result, but not caring for any pupils suspected or confirmed to have COVID infection.
This role is part of a job-share arrangement and the current vacancy is for the first half of the week. Working hours are:
- 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday and Tuesday
- 7.30am to 12:45pm Wednesday
- 7.30am to 12.30pm on alternate Saturdays.
We offer an attractive remuneration package with a basic actual salary of £13,365 per annum, plus a stakeholder pension scheme for eligible staff, free on-site parking, low-cost membership of the on-site Sports Centre and lunch whilst on duty during term time. Annual leave must be taken during school holidays only.
