General Assistant (Buildings Maintenance)
Permanent Full Time 40 Hours per week
Salary £20,256 pa plus Fire Response Allowance £623 pa
Applications are invited to join our busy Buildings Maintenance team on a full time basis. This role reports to the Building Maintenance Manager. Some hands-on practical experience of general maintenance is essential and ideally applicants will have some maintenance experience gained in a school, university, FE College, NHS environment or similar. You will also be required to assist the team’s skilled maintenance personnel in their work.
Experience is more important than formal qualifications for this role but you must have good written and verbal communication skills; be confident using hand and small power tools and comfortable working at height. Due to the nature of the site and equipment used, driving is essential. A clean licence held for a minimum of two years is required. Our insurance only allows for drivers aged 21 and over.
In addition to being able to cope with the physical demands of this role applicants must be diligent in approach as other essential aspects of the role involve monitoring and recording information both for health and safety purposes and utility costs. This role will also form part of our fire response team.
Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm although team members are required to work outside of these hours on occasion

Although there is a local train station own transport would be beneficial. All posts are subject to a probationary period of six months.
