Resident Matron

We have a vacancy for a Resident Matron in one of our boarding houses (pupils aged from 11-17) to join us in September 2026 for the start of the new term. The successful candidate will join a team headed by two resident House Parents, House Tutors, another Resident Matron and Matrons’ Assistants to help look after approximately 90 pupils within their boarding house.  Duties include pastoral care responsibilities, administrative tasks, the control and issue of proprietary medications and pupils’ epipens etc., the organisation of pupils’ laundry and household linen as well as repairing uniforms.

Sensitivity to the needs of young people, good organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to work with others are essential to carry out this important role.  The post is a full- time position operating mainly in term time (33 weeks per year) although you will also be required to work up to 3 additional days before the start and after the end of each term. The two Matrons within each boarding house have a very favourable duty rota with alternate long weekends off duty.  This post also gives many opportunities to join in with the community life of the school.
