Christ’s Hospital Museum has a history going back more than 467 years to its foundation in 1552.  We have a collection of over 100,000 objects on our school site in Horsham. These include paintings, manuscripts, costumes, ceramics, and ephemera with a school connection.  The collection is on display around the site as well as in the museum. We have an extensive archive and our genealogy enquiry work is vast. The museum is a valuable teaching and learning resource and welcomes some 2000 visitors a year.

We require an experienced administrator, to join our small team of Museum staff and volunteers, for a period of 12 months. Normal working hours are 15 hours per week on a Tuesday and Thursday when the museum is open to visitors.

We are looking for a methodical, organised and flexible person with strong skills in IT; communication; customer care and an attention to detail. Ideally you will be qualified to at least A level or equivalent standard; and/or have some experience of working in an administrative and front of house capacity in a heritage/school or business environment. Ideally, candidates will also have an appreciation and understanding of historical collections and how they are managed.
