Teacher of Learning Support

Closing date for application: 18/05/2022 9:00am

Vacancy Type: Full-Time

Location:

Required for September 2022 or January 2023 a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Learning Support for our dynamic, diverse and unique School. This post offers the opportunity to teach in a well-resourced and important department and would suit someone with a strong teaching background, a new graduate or NQT interested to develop their career, including part-time candidates.

The successful candidate will be familiar with the range of educational needs and disabilities; be able to identify needs and teaching strategies to support learners who are neurodivergent; and how to advise and pass on knowledge to colleagues. They must be experienced in working with students in 1-to-1 and small group situations and should also be able to demonstrate a successful track record of support.

Christ’s Hospital is unique. We are strikingly unlike any other independent school in the UK, with a richly diverse pupil body, in terms of ethnicity and socio-economic background.  More than 75% of our pupils are on some form of financial support, with a considerable number receiving full bursaries. We are looking for teachers who will understand our pupils’ backgrounds, learning needs and concerns.

Applicants should evidence in the personal statement how they meet the requirements of the role and person specification. Salary is commensurate with experience and paid in accordance with the Christs’ Hospital Teachers’ Salary scale up to £41,621 per annum depending on teaching experience.  Full participation in the broader life of this busy boarding community is essential and accommodation on site may be provided, depending on circumstances.

A substantial remission of fees is available for the successful applicant’s children at Christ’s Hospital, assuming that: a) they meet the normal academic criteria for entry; and b) a place is available.

We welcome applications from all sectors of the community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake. We consider the most important factor to be the right skills, abilities and attitude for the job which will ultimately improve the well-being and education of the pupils.  Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
