Teacher of Mathematics
For nearly five centuries, Christ’s Hospital has pioneered social mobility and challenged social inequality to provide an unrivalled start in life for disadvantaged children. As economic and social inequality continue to grow in the UK, Christ’s Hospital’s mission is as relevant today as it was in 1552. Christ’s Hospital is unique. We are strikingly unlike any other independent school in the UK, with a richly diverse pupil body, in terms of ethnicity and socio-economic background. More than 75% of our pupils are on some form of financial support, with a considerable number receiving full bursaries.
We have a vacancy for a full-time teacher of Mathematics with effect from September 2023 or earlier if the right candidate is available sooner. This post offers the opportunity to teach Mathematics and Further Mathematics to IGCSE, A Level and beyond. The potential for Second in Department may be available for the right candidate. As an independent school, a PGCE is not necessary for teaching at Christ’s Hospital and we would consider recent graduates who are interested in the profession.
The successful applicant will be a well-qualified and capable graduate with an enthusiasm for the teaching of Mathematics in a large co-educational boarding school. Innovation, flair and vision will be highly valued, as will the ability to inspire pupils both in and out of the classroom.
We welcome applications from all sectors of the community as we aspire to attract staff that match the social and cultural diversity of our student intake. We consider the most important factor to be the right skills, abilities and attitude for the job which will ultimately improve the education and well-being of the pupils.
Applicants should evidence in the personal statement how they how the meet the requirements of the role and person specification. Salary is commensurate with experience and paid in accordance with the Christs’ Hospital Teachers’ Salary scale up to £43,701. Full participation in the broader life of this busy boarding community is essential and accommodation on site may be provided.
