Due to the retirement of the current post holder, we have a full-time permanent opportunity for a Transport Co-ordinator within our Estates Bursar’s team.

The post requires working 37.5 hours per week over five full days. In term time (32 weeks), working days will include working at a weekend around 12 times per year.  In school holidays the post holder will work Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 16:00 with a one-hour lunch break.

The substantial responsibilities of the post are around vehicle/ transport operations including but not limited to basic vehicle checks; attending to defect reports; organising servicing appointments and statutory vehicle checks; input on vehicle acquisition and disposal; correction of minor faults; all administration relating to the fleet, it’s serving, insurance and legal compliance. In addition, the successful candidate will need to be qualified to deliver MiDAS training and to drive Cat D/D1 vehicles or, alternatively must qualify (at the school’s cost) within the probationary period.

Other responsibilities of the post include supplementing the work of another team as directed by the Grounds Manager (Portering) from time to time.

Applicants must have experience of transport operations with an extensive knowledge of user level repairs for vehicles. In addition, and as a minimum, applicants must have held a minimum Cat B driving licence for at least two years; be aged over 21 (for insurance purposes) and licenced to drive both manual and automatic vehicles.

Additional essential requirements include: a reasonable level of IT literacy and good communication skills. The post holder will be the key user of the school’s digital fleet transport system (Fleet Check); self-sufficient in all administration; able to plan, organise and deliver training to groups of staff, and the school’s representative in their dealings with third parties and external providers.
