The Global Influence of French

Our Curriculum

We offer a rigorous and engaging curriculum across all key stages:

Key Stage 3: We follow the Vif textbooks, introducing students to essential vocabulary, grammar, and cultural themes. Topics include family life, hobbies, school, and French-speaking countries.

Key Stage 4 (GCSE): We follow the AQA French GCSE, covering themes such as identity and culture, local and global issues, and future aspirations. Students develop strong speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Key Stage 5 (A Level): We follow the AQA A Level French, exploring advanced topics such as social issues, political engagement, immigration, and cultural heritage. Students also study French literature and film, gaining deep cultural insight.

Together, they bring a wealth of expertise and create an exciting, rigorous learning environment. We also have a native-speaking language assistant, a graduate student who helps students perfect their spoken French. Many of our students achieve fluency by the time they complete their GCSEs.

 

Immersive Experiences

Language comes alive outside the classroom. Last year, we ran multiple immersive trips to France:

Paris (Senior Students): Students explored iconic landmarks, practiced conversational French, and experienced French culture firsthand.

Boulogne-sur-Mer (Junior Students): A perfect introduction to French life, with opportunities to interact with locals, visit markets, and apply classroom learning in real-world settings.

These trips build confidence, deepen cultural understanding, and make language learning unforgettable.
