Tuesday 20 August – 10.30am to 4pm

Join us on this open day for Old Blues and friends and enjoy a leisurely day where you will have open access to Christ’s Hospital’s fabulous grounds and the opportunity to learn more about the history and heritage of the school from 1552 to present day!

Chapel, Dining Hall, Big School and the Museum will be open to visit * Have a picnic on Big Side * Bring bikes and scooters for a summer’s ride around the Mile * Play a game of croquet or giant snakes and ladders * Well behaved dogs are welcome *  Tea and coffee available from Dining Hall * Bookable walking tours with our Museum curators

CH Museum’s extensive recent refurbishment is now complete. We welcome you to browse our bright contemporary gallery space, filled with hundreds of nostalgia-inducing artefacts such as photographs, uniform, and The Blue magazine, along with the stories behind them. Explore themes such as Music, Sport, Wartime and Boarding House traditions at London, Hertford and Horsham while discovering something of your own personal CH history in the context of our 500-year timeline.

The Museum will be open throughout the day for you to visit, with our team of curators and knowledgeable Old Blue volunteers on hand to answer all your questions about Christ’s Hospital and its history.

Guided Site Walking Tours with Refreshments. Times: 11.30am and 2pm.  Cost: £4 per person

If you would like to learn more about the history of Christ’s Hospital, our buildings, paintings and sculptures you can join one of our Museum Curators on a guided site walking tour. Places for the walking tour are limited and must be booked in advance. It will last approximately one hour leaving from Court Room, covering a distance of around one mile and finishing back at Court Room with tea, coffee and cake.

Booking for the walking tours are available during the registration process.

Register to attend the Summer Heritage day by emailing the CHOBA office with your contact details and names of any guests you wish to bring. Please indicate if you would like to book for one of our walking tours and we will contact you with a payment link.

Please note: This is an open day for Old Blues and friends of CH to enjoy an unescorted visit of the grounds and the aforementioned buildings only. This date is outside of school term time, there will be no band parade and the day has no structured programme or activities besides the bookable walking tours.

We hope it gives those of you who wish to come to the School for a leisurely unescorted visit of the site, or to show your family and friends Christ’s Hospital, the opportunity to do so.
