Alzheimer’s Society Visit

On Tuesday 4^th February CH Medical Society members welcomed Alzheimer’s Society Horsham Rusty Brains members to CH to learn more about the groups of progressive neurological diseases that are dementia.

Tim Wilkins (Service User Involvement Officer – West Sussex Alzheimer’s Society) gave the students a short presentation on the different forms of dementia, the impact they can have on a person with dementia and their Carer lives, as well as the importance of being ‘dementia friendly’. Students then had the opportunity to talk to the Rusty Brains members about their personal experiences of dementia.

This is an excellent community link event that helps to raise awareness of dementia and also provides the students with a valuable opportunity to talk to members of the local community who are currently accessing NHS and third sector services.
