Special Film Screening

On 22 April students in UF (Year 10) were treated to a special screening of the documentary feature film Name me Lawand, introduced by the director Ed Lovelace. 

The film explores the journey of a young Kurdish boy whose life is transformed when he arrives in Britain and learns to speak British Sign Language.  After the screening Ed answered questions about the process of filmmaking and the lessons he learned about modern migration and the deaf community. 

It was a privilege to have this glimpse into such different worlds and everyone in the audience understood the importance of telling stories through film in order to generate empathy for others.
