On Tuesday 21st May, a special careers’ networking event was held at Christ’s Hospital School, giving students from CH and Roedean School a unique opportunity to make valuable connections for their future careers.

Guest entrepreneurs Andrew Pullman, Harry Daymond, Sally Patterson, David MellorAvi Lassarow, and Nasser Elaheebocus.

Five leading entrepreneurs and members of the Guild of Entrepreneurs visited the School to share their experiences of creating new businesses, in fields including sports science and genetics; cocktails and sweets; banking; human resources and FinTech; and careers coaching and consulting. All the panellists shared brief highlights about their business journey with the pupils. After the panel discussion, the students were given the chance to ask questions and network with the panellists to gain further career insights.

The Guild of Entrepreneurs is a Guild of the City of London and an aspirant Livery Company and has committed to support CH; as a result, several CH students have already benefited from networking with the Guild’s members, including through gaining work experience.

One of the guest entrepreneurs, Harry Daymond, an award-winning young entrepreneur from Horsham, later tweeted, “Thank you for inviting me to sit on a panel at the annual special careers event and share my journey with all your students! Really enjoyed meeting so many fired up young potential entrepreneurs!” Harry launched his first company, Kart Kompany Ltd, at the age of 15 and went on to win Young Start-Up Talent 2017 and to be named by Transferwise among the Top 20 Under 20 Teen CEOs in the UK & Ireland. The other guest speakers were Sally Patterson, Senior Coach and Deputy Head of Programme Management at Mandarin Consulting; David Mellor, who has 25 years’ experience in commercial and investment banking with HSBC and Deutsche Bank; Avi Lassarow, Founder and CEO of DNAFit, an award-winning entrepreneur and lifestyle genetics pioneer; Andrew Pullman, a human resources professional and CEO/founder of People Risk Solutions; and Nasser Elaheebocus, Founder of Sussex-based business consultancy Business Pulse.

This networking event is held at Christ’s Hospital annually, with different guest speakers providing advice and inspiration for the pupils each year.
