On 3 March, the Royal Navy Section cadets visited HMS Victory at the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth, where they learned all about the Battle of Trafalgar and saw the spot where Nelson was shot and later died from his wounds. They also went to the Mary Rose Museum, where they learned about Henry VIII’s favourite ship and the Battle of the Solent, before getting to view the remains of the ship and learning about the many artefacts recovered and the sailors who owned them. The day ended with a trip on the water taxi to visit the Submarine Museum where they went onboard HMS Alliance, the only remaining Second World War era submarine, explored the decks and narrow corridors, and even got to look through the original periscope. It was a fantastic day out enjoyed by all!
