On 16 January, 10 pupils from GE to GR (Year 11–13) competed in an interschools’ climbing competition, at a climbing facility called Boulder Brighton.

The CH team had to tackle 25 different climbing routes, which were all unique and challenging in their own way, by working together to identify how to climb the route. Most pupils ‘flashed’ a significant number of problems, meaning they climbed it first go (gaining them an extra two points in the competition) and the majority completed 15 out of the 25 problems set, between the grades of 4a and 8a.

Jack (DG/Year 12) said: ‘It was a very enjoyable event, and I found that working with my friends to overcome and complete different routes was amazing. It was not my first climbing competition with CH, and I hope it is not my last. There was something for everyone to do, it was a fantastic experience!’

The pupils who took part in the competition are all currently members of the Christ’s Hospital climbing active, which takes place every Monday afternoon.
