Library Writing Competition

For World Book Day, the LARC Library held a creative writing competition entitled ’15 Pictures in Search of a Story’.

In the book The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, Chris Van Allsburg creates exciting illustrations with captions which inspire us to write stories around them. Pupils were asked to choose one of 15 illustration from the book and use the pictures and captions as inspiration to write their own short story of no more than 750 words.

First and second prize went to Paloma and Mollie respectively, who both received a book, bookmark and chocolate bar (with an extra journal for Paloma), while Riley, Harrison, Rose, Kiyan and Alice (not pictured) were highly commended and received a chocolate bar.
